10 Essential Items for Your Closet: Black Dress

'Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds. It is an ever fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken. Love alters not with time’s brief hours and weeks, but bears it out even to the edge of doom.'

- William Shakespeare

10 Essential Items: Black Dress

Hello there ! Today I am continuing with the 10 most important pieces for every closet. The third item to discuss is the black dress.

Why is the black dress essetial?

I am still writing about the clothes which I don't need to convince you much. Everybody knows the 'little black dress' and its versatility. Every lady has one and knows how to use it.
In that particular case I've paired a pretty simple dress in two different ways. On the right is the 'rock girl' with faux leather and motor boots. I think this style turned out really good. The downside is that black may be the predominant colour. That is why I added the scarf - for some colour and to finish up the whole outfit.
On the right is the more elegant look suitable for work, for instance. The same simple, casual dress is paired with a nice lady-like cardigan and stylish shoes. For an accessory I have chosen the flower brooch because I love these and because just like the scarf in the previous outfit, it gives the final touch to it.

These are two ways you can wear your same black dress - be daring with the 'rock girl' or transform into a smart lady.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned!

Boredom led me to ... challenge myself

... and to this as well .

"I challenge you to make your life a masterpiece. I challenge you to join the ranks of those people who live what they teach, who walk their talk. "
  - Tony Robbins

To be honest, I wouldn't normally wear that. It just emerged in my mind a couple of days ago and I decided to put it on and take photos just for fun. I was kind of bored even though I've got a serious amount of studying to do - yes, procrastinating again.

The outfit is pretty nice even though it is a bit hard to see the whole beauty of it because the photos are made indoors and their quality is a bit low (plus I had to crop them since today is not my day to be photographed). Despite that I decided to share my outfit epiphany. So please focus on the clothes and the outfit itself.

Even though I said I wouldn't normally wear it, I do like it a lot. After all it is created with pieces from my own closet. It is simply the fact that I prefer more casual and comfy outfits. That is why you haven't seen me in heels yet. I do love heels but I always feel like a giant stork being watched by everyone. Of course, I've got quite a few pairs of heels which unfortunately, I rarely wear.
I guess that is something that I need to change about my style. Why not wear something that you like? Even that it makes me feel funny among people, I believe it makes me quite elegant, too. So I challenge myself...

I am sure that there is something that you've always wanted to wear but felt self-conscious about it. Let's get rid of the prejudice and just be happy about ourselves, our looks and style.

I am not sure where all that came from but it sounds like a step towards a better and more confident B.

And if you managed to read all that: thank you!

The Lookbook

E.E. Cummings once wrote: 'To be nobody but yourself- in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else- means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.'
 - Found in a One Tree Hill Episode (when it was still great... )

Just an ordinary day with a casual outfit. Not too much to say about it. Except for the fact that it was a sunny, warm day which had two sides to it: 1. it made me kind of happy ; 2. it made me feel tired.
Probably fatigue is something usual for the period of weather getting warmer but I hope it doesn't stick.

Mango Spring 2012

"Here is my secret. It is very simple: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye"
  - Antoine de Saint ExupĂ©ry - The Little Prince

That is indeed, one of the most popular (probably has even become a cliche) but so real statement...

Let's get back to the topic. Today I looked through Mango's blog to browse for their spring collection. I was not surprised to find pastel colours, patterned scarves, big bracelets, loose sweaters, trenchcoats, lovely dresses and skirts.
I am really happy and excited about this spring and summer season. Mango did a great job in creating their collection and catalogue as well. Even though I am not the biggest Kate Moss fan, most of their new stuff is amazing and I would love to shop there. The fact that I love about this collection is that most of the pieces are not pretentious but rather casual, laid-back but still versatile enough to be styled in many ways.
All the photos are taken from their blog.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned.

Another Rainy Day

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
  - Oscar Wilde

Another rainy day... no surprise given the fact I live in London. But I decided to turn that dreadful event into an opportunity to show you some new nice stuff, or some old nice stuff which unfortunately, you haven't seen.

This is my new jewelry box. Even though it is a present box not particularly suitable for jewelry I decided to get it. I have always had some kind of fascination with pretty boxes in which I can put my stuff. The regular, typical jewelry box is too ordered and pedantic for me. I prefer to have a random pretty box in my room and when I open it - even though it is all over the place, I can find my small treasures.

Here are two of them - both presents from V. for Valentine's. I have shown you the one from Dorothy Perkins (on the right) but now I I'd like to present to other heart necklace - from Forever 21. Which one do you like better? (A secret: I love them both but I prefer the DP one.)

These lovely, lovely SIX earrings are a gift from S. (B. and S. - how Gossip Girl are we ?).
I adore them but every time that I put them on I feel not classy enough for them. Probably that is why you haven't seen them here as much as I would like to.
I really like the key - lock thing. You may remember that I have a similar Fossil necklace.

I have shown you this one but I think it deserves more attention because it is just too pretty to be neglected as a treasure from the box.

.And the last forgotten piece in the box are those earrings (again from SIX - I love their jewelry). I like the pale colours and their shape. I have worn them but I think they remained unnoticed - a real shame.

The last thing that I'd like to share in this rainy day may appear as a bit odd. Recently I have been "collecting" those small jars of jam and honey. All kinds of it! I don't know if I am the only one who feels fascinated by such thing but those small jars are:
 1.amazingly cute;
 2.contain really good jam/honey;
3.can be used later (if you decide to destroy the contents) to create something pretty using your creativity.

I hope wherever you are you are getting a bit of sunshine for me...
Thanks for reading!

10 Essential Items for Your Closet: Basic Tee or Top

"Ambition is the last refuge of the failure."
- Oscar Wilde

Basic Tee

Sorry for the slight delay but I am back with the second post about essential items for every closet. And this would be the basic top.

Why do you need one?

Well obviously, it is pretty basic! Every outfit has to start from somewhere and when it doesn't start with the tee or top, it usually ends with it. What I mean is that it can either be something that you put on just to be casual and you layer it to become something more interesting or you want to finish the outfit with something not that noticeable but complementing the overall look. The latter case is my suggestion on the right - nice colours, the skirt, shoes and blazer speak for themselves so not to go over the top we choose this basic item. The left outfit is casual, autumn-ish look - I started with the tee and added the layers to it to keep warm and look good at the same time.

I really don't think that I should try hard to convince you that you need such piece in your closet. I believe I am not the only one who starts her "let's dress up" time by putting on one of these.

Plus, I hope you know my motto - Simplicity is ultimate form of sophistication. And what more simple than that?

I have in mind some new ideas and new purchases so stay tuned. Thank for reading!

10 Essential Items for Your Closet: Black Blazer

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."
- Oscar Wilde

We love black blazers!

I am sharing with you my personal must-haves for every wardrobe no matter what the season or the trends are. We all know that some items are more than vital for most outfits e.g. I always need a simple tee or top to wear (white, beige or black) as a foundation of an outfit.

Why black blazer and why do you need one?

Well I suppose this question needs no answer because most people are aware of the benefits, but I will give it a try anyway.
I styled that regular black blazer with a lovely pair of chinos, simple tee and ballerina flats. It is an everyday, casual outfit which you can wear basically everywhere. The blazer gives that elegant and lady look to it. It adds style somehow. Probably I don't have to explain it because it is easy to see.
On the other side is the formal white & black look which is suitable for the busy business woman or whenever you want to be elegant to the maximum. And this includes your same black blazer! This item gives you the options you want to have in your wardrobe. And why black? Because it is the colour that you can style with any other.

I guess I started with blazers because I got mine relatively recently after many months of postponing the purchase. But I shouldn't have because now I am only thinking how else can I wear it.

Thank for reading and stay tuned!

The Lookbook

When his life was ruined, his family killed, his farm destroyed, Job knelt down on the ground and yelled up to the heavens, "Why god? Why me?" and the thundering voice of God answered, "There's just something about you that pisses me off."
- Stephen King

I suppose that is the way e God feels about me right now...

That is why today I am not very word-y and talkative so bear with me please.

I went job hunting (kind of) and this is what I wore. It is not that inspirational but what I like here is my Valentine's gift from V. - the ring, the boots worn that way and the bow peeping playfully above them. I felt really girly in that outfit even though it is pretty regular. Probably because of the bow and the flower clips.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned!

Floral Prints

"Most people don't grow up. Most people age. They find parking spaces, honor their credit cards, get married, have children, and call that maturity. What that is, is aging."
Today I decided to show you three in my favourite items from that Stradivarius collection that I mentioned in my earlier post.
Since the floral print is really popular that season these pants really caught my attention. All three of them look amazing and they are styled pretty good. The colours also correspond to my preferences and to the pastel colours trend. Frankly, I would not wear such trousers if the colours are too bright. All the photos are taken from Stradivarius's website
I adore all three of these (but the last one is the best among the best). Which do you like most ?
Thanks for reading and if I don't get the chance to say it: Happy Valentine's Day! Wish you all the love in the world. Remember those special plans that I wrote about? Keep your fingers crossed that they turn out fine. And if they do, I'll have some material for a great post.

The Frozen Lake Lookbook

"No, it's not a very good story - its author was too busy listening to other voices to listen as closely as he should have to the one coming from inside. "
- Stephen King

V. and I decided to run away somewhere for a while but since we cannot actually go far or anywhere at all, the best decision was to visit his aunt in Reading. Since we are staying here for the weekend we visited the neighborhood lake which was almost completely frozen. We had to forget about some things so we started from that place for distraction. There are so many lovely houses around it - I really hope thaat some day we get to live in such place.

My outfit is nothing special. And when I say nothing I mean that I was not thinking when I got dressed but still it turned out very well, I think. I cannot believe how when you don't overthink  situations they turn out quite well. I hope you'll agree. Plus, V. gave me a small present just before we left and that not only cheered me up but made me feel more beautiful.

The lake was almost entirely frozen, as I mentioned, and the geese walked and swam at the same time. We had taken bread to feed them, even though I think they eat quite a lot.
The photo below shows my early Valentine's gift from V. He knows me and my taste really well. I feel lucky to have him.

And for an end I'd like to share with you this miracle in a box for lips in cold weather. I got this lip balm at The Body Shop awhile ago and I have been carrying it around in my bag as you may notice the small scratches. Anyway, it is the best one that I have had (and I have tried many kinds of lip balm before losing them, of course) - really shiny, glossy and moisturizing in the same time. I have to admit that Nivea and Garnier are pretty good as well but I like the colour that this one gives to my lips.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed.
