Trend Spotter: Bare Midriffs

"Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future."
- Coco Chanel
The Bare Midriff
Hello on... Saturday?! I have completely lost track of time and that is why it turns out that I haven't written a post in two days. The sad thing is that I am still not doing something productive but I am rather indulging in laziness and a bit of shopping. I wanted to say goodbye to March with a great Lookbook but  it will be a great Trend Spotter instead.

You have probably noticed that the last few seasons bare midriffs have been  on. I realized it quite recently because I can't really embrace the idea.

Why I generally don't support it and which is the small part which I actually like:

Let's be honest - not many people can pull this look off. Moreover, I am sure that 97% of the girls don't feel that their abs are suitable to be shown like this. Bare midriffs can be quite tricky - if you don't manage to create an appropriate outfit (those that I've chosen are really decent especially Sarah Jessica Parker in the blue shirt) you may fail miserably. If you don't match your clothes in a stylish way or you turn up with your bare belly on the wrong occasion, it may even be embarrassing. I remember how this was fashionable when I was a kid and some teenage singers were the fad among us. And please, please don't forget that not every trend is to be liked and necessarily worn. Just be honest with yourself when deciding whether you can afford to show off your midriff.

If I've killed your enthusiasm, don't hate me. I believe that you can find a really nice way to show bare midriff and if you feel confident enough about it, why not? As I said I like Sarah Jessica Parker's shirt look a lot and Jessica Szohr's outfit as well. There is a note of the 50's in that trend which I support.

So to sum up, this is a bit of a "no,no" for me but if you know that you can style it good, then do it. Obviously, there are some ways this could look nice worn with confidence.
What do you think about it and have you tried it out? I'd be happy if someone decides to share.

Tomorrow I will be flying to Bulgaria for Easter. The whole thing is bittersweet for me because to honest, I prefer to stay in London. But since I have no choice, I will be writing a sleepy post tomorrow night from the airport because I  will have wait a few hours there.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for some nice lookbooks from my favourite places back home!

The Lookbook

"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. "
- Winston Churchill

Hello! So far today has been quite good to me - sunny once again and a great, amazing boyfriend who has been spoiling me all day due to the fact that today is 28.03. What is so special about it is that 28 March according to the church calendar is a day dedicated to the saint with whom I share name. Therefore, I have a small birthday in a way. It is kind of complicated but if you're Bulgarian you'd sure understand.

Ok, sorry for the rambling I just wanted to tell you why today is a bit more special for me. I decided to wear the scarf from yesterday's post which I forgot to mention then... silly me. Nevertheless, you will see it now along with my most favourite, cosy cardigan. It is quite warm and I've been seeing people dressed for summer but it's  still spring so I cannot bring myself to go out without a jacket or a cardigan yet.
My outfit is pretty casual but when I wear that black cardigan I feel a certain splendour which only this piece of clothing has the power to give me. Probably because it is long and the way it falls along my body is really pretty.

All About Small Joys

“Many people lose the small joys in the hope for the big happiness.”
  - Pearl S. Buck

Hello on a lazy Tuesday! Spring has inevitably arrived and I am really happy about that. It makes some of the negative things that await me later that season, seem a bit more bearable.
Anyway, let's not spoil it all because today I decided to share with you the small joys of my day because after all they are the things that at the end of it, bring real happiness. I don't want to underestimate the smallest of my blessings or neglect them. And somehow I think they are connected to the blog (because apparently it makes me happy in a way, too) so here we go...

What is better than some great ice cream? I had never tried Ben & Jerry's and I have to admit it may be capable of soothing all kinds of stress and anxiety.

The Lookbook

"I don't mind living in a man's world as long as I can be a woman in it."
- Marilyn Monroe

Hello on another sunny day!

This is my outfit from yesterday and I know it misses two things - a pair of heels and a statement necklace but since I lack good shoes and suitable necklaces I chose to wear my favourite earrings. Soon I will improve on that particular look and you will see it whole new and upgraded.

10 Essential Items for Your Closet: The Scarf

"Hate is easy love takes courage"
- A well-known, easy to forget fact, I guess
10 Essential Items: #6 The scarf

Hello on a lovely Saturday !
I was supposed to write this post yesterday but I got really sleepy after a long day so I beg to be forgiven.
I am back with the essential items for every closet and today we are discussing the scarf.

Why is the scarf so important ?

A good scarf can worn in many, many ways and combined in different outfits. As you can see on the polyvore set where I've chosen a basic scarf, it accompanies a more casual look with a top and denim jacket, and a more chic look suitable for a more special occasion. In the both cases it finishes off the outfits by giving an additional touch to them. I have always loved scarves - all kinds of them, made from all the fabrics you can think of. A good scarf is never too much. Plus, you can always think of new ways to incorporate it in an outfit by tying it to your bag for instance, or finding a cute way to wear it as a headband.

And if you need inspiration about how you can wear it I always turn to Wendy Nguen's video 25 Ways to Wear a Scarf in 4.5 Minutes !

I hope that wherever you are now, you're getting the sunny weather that we have in the UK and that should definitely put you in a better mood. Why not a mood for a pretty scarf?

Thank you for reading.

The Lookbook

"Expect problems and eat them for breakfast. "
- Alfred A. Montapert

Hello for today! Let me be honest from the beginning... this day was not completely as planned and that goes for the outfit as well. I did not feel good in general (if you ask me why I won't have a particular answer) so I did not feel good in my skin and clothes as well. Despite that I decided to share with you the ugly moments too because every person them and I am not afraid to admit and show them to you. Anyway, I hope you will say "what is she talking about?!" but if you see it as clearly as I do, please be merciful.

The venue is the British Museum. A lovely building and place in general with lots of things worth seeing. We should definitely visit it again. Though, there is something that overwhelmed me a bit...

10 Great Items to Use as Decoration: Everything Decoupaged!

"Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies. "
- Mother Teresa

Hello! Today I decided to continue with the things that I like to keep as little inspirations around me at home. The second most fascinating thing that I love is not an item actually, it is a technique - decoupage. If you have not heard of it, believe me, you should keep on reading!
Decoupage technique is simply sticking to glass, wooden, metal, plastic or ceramic surface of items paper cut-outs and make the ornament look like painted on the surface. The most popular material for decoration used for decoupage is rice paper, newspapers or images cut from napkin. Final effect can be impressive and the items decorated this way - unique. 10 Essential Items for Your Closet: Trench Coat

"Arguments are extremely vulgar, for everyone in good society holds exactly the same opinion."
- Oscar Wilde
And that puts the boundries to innovative ideas, to imagination and to the freedom of being exactly what one dreams of...

Essential Items: Trench Coat
Hello to everybody! Sorry once again for the laziness these days but the health issues won't let go. I hope that soon they will be over and I will have my full focus on the blog and my studies.

Meanwhile I am continuing with the 10 essential items for every closet. Today I decided to share my thoughts on trench coats. You have seen mine here and you will probably see it a lot more these upcoming spring days.

Why is the trench coat essential?

In my mind I can always compare the classical trench coat to the little black dress, for instance. They have the same status quo in women's closet, both being elegant and versatile. As you may have noticed, these are the aspects that I am searching for in the wardrobe essentials:
1.be able to wear it in many ways
2. contribute to the style being aimed at.

In the polyvore set I have chosen short Burberry . Of course, that brand presents trench coats best. The suggestion on the right is for the current spring season. You can mix a match your trendy pastels but it is still a bit chilly so the trench will not only keep you warm but it will complement the look greatly and probably give it the finishing touch along with the chosen accessories. The outfit on the left is a smart, a bit more formal choice for the night or special occasion. The case is the same - the trench coat does not take away the elegance of the clothes, on the contrary, it contributes to the chic look.
I also adore long trench coats, really classy and never out of style.

Do you have an idea how you would wear your trench coat?

Thank you for reading and stay tuned!

Trend Spotter: Chiffon Skirts

by those who could not hear the music"

Chiffon Skirts

Hello! I am sorry for the short absence but it is due to health issues and a bit of university duties which unfortunately, are not over yet. Anyway, I remembered that recently I haven't done any Trend Spotters. So here it comes ...

The Lookbook

"Imperfection is  beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring"

Today V. and I had an awesome experience - we went to the London Aquarium. It had nothing in common with the aquarium back at home so I was thrilled to visit the place. Of course, the best part were the penguins because let's be honest, they are the coolest animals. I don't want to bore you with many pictures of the aquarium and the fish. The photos are quite dark because using flashlight was forbidden plus, the photos cannot show the reality of it, so I recommend that you go there yourself whenever you have the opportunity.

10 Great Items to Use as Decoration: Pot Pourri

"Beauty awakens the soul to act. "
-Dante Alighieri

I decided to start something which will be beneficial to those interested not only in style in fashion but style at home, too. I had the idea because I found myself constantly thinking about how I could make cosy and warm the humble room that I currently reside in.

The first thing that always comes to my mind is pot pourri. For those of you like me, interested in the etymology of the word; it is entirely french, "pot" has the same meaning as in English and "pourri" means "rotten". That is literally, of course. But it still represents the main idea - dried flowers.

Why Pot Pourri ?

I think this is something very girly and sophisticated at the same time. It is beautiful, provides the opportunity to be arranged in various ways and colours, and smells incredibly good. Here I should make a note that some of the new pot pourri sold have dyes and artificial perfumes added to them. But you can always see the difference. I am not against these types of dried flowers but I prefer real ones. You can always buy pot pourri at a big superstore (e.g Asda, Tesco), order them online or in a store for home decor and furniture. The most popular fragrances according to my observations, are lavender, strawberry, lemon, cinnamon and rose.

DIY Flower Clip

"The prettiest dresses are worn to be taken off"

- Jean Cocteau

For today I decided to show you how you can make a pretty flower clip yourself. Very much alike to the one you saw me wearing in this post . I am not a genius in the DIY projects but this was one of my favourites when I was at home and had all the materials and time needed.

The Lookbook

"Inspiration exists but it has to find you working"
- Pablo Picaso

I need to remember this when I feel stuck in a rut.
Today V. and I had a random day after my lectures at the university. I felt like dressing up and making myself prettier than usual (after a few days spent in sweats that was not a difficult task) and this is how I ended up. Hope you like it.

This is my most favourite blazer ever - from Zara. I bought it with trousers for my last day of school last year. So it is a bit old, I can say; however, I adore it. It makes simple wedges and pants look more sophisticated. I can't wait to show you the trousers as well! I have no idea why I haven't done it so far.

10 Essential Items for Your Closet: Comfy Flats

"Comparison is the thief of joy"
- Theodore Roosevelt

10 Essential Items: Comfy Ballet Flats

Back with the 10 Essential items for every closet. Number 4 are the comfy ballet flats.

Why are the comfortable flats a necessity not for work only ?

If you read my blog you already know that high heels are not my weakness, even though I love them. So now I will try to convert you for my cause - flats.

You will see later on that stylish pumps are part of the essential items list but let's be honest - if those are the only type of shoes that a girl has in her closet, it is a bit impractical. I have known some ladies who have always preferred to wear heels either because their feet did not hurt after a few hours or because they had some kind of height issues (and I'm telling that with my best feelings because I have kind of a height issue as well but turned the other way round).

Yes, flats are a bit more plain but a life-saver. For the set I have chosen H&M flats which can be worn with everything. The right suggestion is a night out outfit which would go amazingly well will pumps but if you are planning to dance all night or be active in any possible way, those will definitely save your life. If your feet can take many hours of walking around in a pretty but so- very- hurtful shoe, I genuinely envy you. But if not, why torture yourself and your feet? Of course, there are some outfits which oblige to wear something different but you can choose carefully.

The other outfit is basic and casual, suitable for school or university, or just spending your free time.

Moreover, there are some really amazing ballerina flats out there (for my immense happiness) which are not less elegant than a high heel. And whenever you are not sure what kind of shoe is suitable for an outfit, I believe simple flats can be worn in so many ways.

Let's not compare anymore, to save some of the joy :)

Thank you for reading and stay tuned !

My Secret Fashion Cravings

"Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future."
 - Oscar Wilde

Today I decided to share with you the items that have bothered me most during the last few months or so. They are not connected to current trends but to my own cravings and ideas about good-looking outfits.

Well here it is. Pretty simple and straightforward. The items go like this:
  • Ray-Ban - It is not necessary for them to be Wayfarers (even though I really like them) because I am not sure if they are going to fit my face in the way that I would like them to. Despite that, it would be a pleasure to try them out. I would love Ray-Ban Aviator sunnies as well.
  • H&M Black Ballet Flats - they are pretty basic and necessary for every outfit. I used to have a great pair of black flats but since I wore them mainly at work I desperately need new ones.
  • Great Clutch - this one is from River Island ( they've got some nice stuff, I should admit). It is elegant, has a great shape and lovely colour. It will be a bit of a challenge to pair it but as you know, now I'm welcoming challenges. (in case it doesn't work, I have a black clutch in mind, too)
  • Red Pumps - I fell in love with a pair of red pumps at River Island but unfortunately, I couldn't find them to show you. They will look amazing worn as an accent to an outfit. I have so many ideas about those beauties!
  • Massive Necklace - at first I was not on board with that trend but recently I've felt in love with it. When your outfit lacks something and you just don't know how to spice it up and make a part of it noticeable an accent to it would be a nice, not that elegant but more daring necklace. This one is from Forever 21, I haven't actually seen it but it looks like a good choice. There is another one pretty great and on a reasonable price at Primark.
  • Forever 21 Ring - I really like that ring. And to be honest, quite a few rings recently. I guess my obsession with them is back. A girl can never have too many rings or accessories, for that matter.
It will be great to share what is on your wishlist, or do you have one at all. I plan to stick to mine because otherwise, things may get out of control.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned !
