The Lookbook - Asymmetrical Ombre Skirt

“Everything I’ve ever let go of had claw marks on it.”
- David Foster Wallace

Hello everybody! Sorry for being away for a bit but I was really tired and had so many things to do. One of those things was becoming the godmother of one of my closest friends. I was honored and  extremely happy for the occasion. After that we went out of course and we had so much fun. I really wanted to show you  both outfits - from the church and from the outing. Today you'll see the night look.

I fell in love with that skirt from Mango as soon ad I saw it. And it was on sale! You know that moment when you like something and you cannot stop thinking about it and pairing it with different pieces from your wardrobe? For me that's when I know I need to get it. The skirt's colours are amazing.

Mary Katrantzou for Topshop

What do you think of this exciting new collaboration between high street and designer? To be honest I heard of it quite recently after going through some UK magazines. I am a fan of Mary Katrantzou for two main reasons. Firstly, she is from Greece - how can I not feel her close to Bulgaria and our way of thinking? Secondly, she managed to become successful and respected young designer in times when it is really hard to stand out and prove that you're worthy. Moreover, her clothes are different in a very distinguished way and still wearable and stylish. She graduated from one of the best schools in the fashion field and followed her dreams to win a number of prizes and become one of the most talked about designers during the LFWs.

The collection for Topshop has Mary Katrantzou's signature. It can be noticed as soon as you look at a piece of it. The clothes are affordable (prices starting from £60) and easy to wear. Why? Because they are so colourful and noticeable that they are the statement of the outfit no matter what. If you like patterns, florals and colours this is a suitable collection for you. My personal favourite is a blue scarf.

DIY Butterfly Card

"The only real elegance is in the mind; if you've got that, the rest really comes from it"
 - Diana Vreeland.

Today is my parents' anniversary. I have been thinking what I should get them but I just couldn't figure it out. I asked for advice from many friends but my parents are quite whimsical so I had little choice.

At the end I decided to try something myself. If you create a gift by yourself it is always more precious than buying it because it has a piece of you within. So I decided that instead of buying the next useless and soon- to- be- forgotten card, I should create it myself. Plus, I found a bit of inspiration on Pinterest. Where else? Pinterest is an endless well of good ideas. You just need some time to go through it and during my night shifts at work I often have plenty of time for Pinterest.

So here is the awesome idea that I found - Butterfly card. It is very pretty and easy to do. The blog that it was originally posted in no longer exists but if you manage to find it, please let me know. You can see it right at the bottom of the tutorial:

My results are not that fascinating but I think it still looks pretty. I am not very good in cutting paper and this was the main part of the DIY project but the butterfly's shape turned out pretty decent. I find the idea very suitable for invitations. There is no big deal in creating this card. Just doing the measures right and drawing the wings similarly. While I was doing it I felt like a kid who is making a card for its mum. It was that sweet feeling of the expectation. Then I thought : "Wait a second, you're 20!" ... but who cares? I would love to get back to that good old times and feeling as if I can do anything.

Here is what the tutorial says and shows:
1. Cut the shape of a card by using the template or drawing it yourself. /measures - 6cm;12cm;6cm /
2. Cut the butterfly's wings, fold by lines.
3. Decorate your future card of invitation.

The Pencil Skirt

"Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live"
- Gianni Versace.

Lime Pencil Skirt

Pencil skirts have been on the fashion scene forever. That is why they have become another classic. The pencil skirt complements the womanly shape of the hips and worn in the right way, combined with the right shoes, it can even make your legs look longer and more elegant. Even plump ladies look great in them because they usually have that sand clock shape which is great for this type of skirts. If you have nice hips and a juicy bum don't hide it in wide, baggy, maxi skirts - this will not conceal anything, I promise you. Baggy clothes will only make you look even wider and scruffy. The better choice would be to show your shapes and not be ashamed of them. Too much skin is never classy but our shapes are pretty no matter what.

The best combination is a loose top and nice, tight skirt or pants, or vice versa. If all your clothes are too tight or too loose you risk overdoing the look. Of course, every rule has some gorgeous exceptions so you have to think very good when you choose each piece of clothing and the best possible way to wear it. I often find the best combination to be tight + loose.

And don't you like that lime yellow colour ? I find it perfect for summer.

The Lookbook - Beach Fun

Today I will show you how I usually go to the beach. The main elements are messy hair, comfy clothes and a towel, nothing more really. I am not the type of girl who goes to the beach to be pretty. I don't like to accessorize, and make up is something ridiculous when it comes to the sea. The only 'beauty thing' that I have in my beach bag is the Garnier Sun Lotion. Not because I get sunburn (way too dark for that!) but because I prefer to be responsible with the things I am doing to my skin. I don't want to wake up one day and regret not taking care of something so important. After all the sun is a bit dangerous as well.

The photos are from an amazing place near Varna where I love going! It is wonderful with it's clear water, endless beach and even wild plants. I don't now how this place was preserved so well when I've seen how most of Bulgaria's seacoast has been almost destroyed. This place is a small heaven. The only downside is that you need a car, otherwise there is no other way to go. So when I had the opportunity I took it immediately.

Let me tell you a secret: salty water + curly hair = love ! Beach waves just happen naturally for me and I am so thankful. My hair has always been curly but it needs a bit of shape and order after washing. When I go to the beach it is still messy as crazy but all of my curls have perfect shape which I cannot create even if I wanted to. I even saw a tutorial for beach waves that included salty water spray, so it's not only me, it definitely works!

My advice is: forget about beauty, go get your towel and lotion, get tanned, enjoy the sea, roll all over in the sand if you want to, just have real fun.

The Lookbook - Denim Shorts + Accessories

“Go and make interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes, make glorious and fantastic mistakes. Break rules. Leave the world more interesting for your being here.”
— Neil Gaiman

Hello everybody! Today I will show you what I was wearing on Sunday - my glorious day off! I got the chance to go to the beach, get tanned and of course get dressed later that day. I really wanted to wear something white because I just love how the colour stands out from tanned skin. I missed this so much! And why not pair the white top with denim shorts. The outfit looked a bit plain but this is what accessories are for! I put on my new Michael Kors watch and my favourite bracelets. I think the whole outfit tured out really good, summer-y, casual but stylish. Accessories create miracles! Whenever you want to turn a plain piece of clothing into something noticeable, or a vintage dress into something with modern look accessories are the thing that you need.

Weekly Instagrams

“We all know fear. But passion makes us fearless.”
— Paulo Coelho

A few instagrams from last week. All of them except for the last 3 were taken then. Those last ones are just a few photos which I love and turned out pretty good "instagrammed".

I strated work last week and that I why I haven't had enough time for everything. Despite that I got the chance to be a little bit creative, to go to the beach and to have cocktails with friends. After all that is what is important - to be able to balance with everything. As you notice I spend most of my free time by the sea. I have always had that strange love and connection to it. Probaly beacuse I grew up right by the Black Sea. I even see it every morning when I wake up and I seriously miss when in London.

By the way, don't you just love S.'s key necklace she got from Accessorize while she was in London?

How to Make a Statement Look

"You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches !"

Hello on my day off. I finally have time for the things I love! Today we're talking about making a statement in your outfit. The "statement piece" has become a quite used fashion term which should not be neglected. Be brave, be bold and don't hold back with anything you wish to do or wear. That is the motto of the current trends. Despite that, there is a thin line between stylish and tacky which should not be crossed when wearing your bold piece.

Choose your statement

You can choose whichever part you wish from your outfit to be the one that stands out. Currently the necklaces and probably clutches are the most common choices but that doesn't mean that you cannot dare to be inspired by something else. For instance, the red lipstick is a statement that rarely remains unnoticed. This is what I've done in this post. Everything is black and white and the red lips give all the glamour. Combined with red nails it says even more. You can make the same impact using sequins, studs or a colourful, vibrant print. Shoes, clutches, blazers they all say and show something particular.

It is essential that you do not overdo the look. Don't be afraid to choose bold colours but do it carefully without adding too many different schemes. Trends allow pretty much everything but there is a certain boundary which separates tacky from stylish as I already mentioned. If you are not sure about the colours you've chosen don't hesitate to check the colour wheel. When combining prints don't use too many different ones and try to combine fairly similar prints so that the outfit is consistent and not all over the place with colours and patterns.

You can mix and match your statement pieces but my personal opinion would be no more than two. The reason is that it becomes too much and all that is too much is neither pretty nor elegant. If you want to wear a large piece of jewelry do it of course, but don't go with big earrings and a statement necklace at the same time. You want the earrings - keep your neck bare or without a necklace; you want the necklace - choose no or small elegant earrings as a detail.

In the set below I've chosen a bold necklace combined with the clutch. The rest is black so that the pieces that we want to stand out say and show what they have to. It is not necessary to use a neutral colour as a foundation but it is good to choose one that is complementary to the outfit.

Wear The Statement

Choose and wear your statement bravely, keeping in mind the points mentioned.

10 Great Items to Use as Decoration: Lights

I got inspired for decoration ideas today. I had the desire to create myself but it turned out that I lacked some materials so I just focused on searching for  inspiration on the internet, mainly Pinterest and a few interesting blogs.

What I found is something that I knew long ago - I love indoor lights. But not the ordinary lights but rather Christmas-y lights used in various ways to make the room cosy and lighten it up, of course. Used in a creative way this lighting gives the room a romantic and warm look. I find it perfectly easy to hang them and give new, young but still subtle look to the room. As a student I will probably strive for more rebellious, creative, artsy spirit in my personal space but using lights may definitely be classy and elegant especially in a bedroom. But the key adjective here is romantic.  I can't even start describing how much time I could spend daydreaming under a bed canopy with lights on or above it.

If you don't feel brave enough to hang such kind of lighting in your bedroom, it's still perfect for the garden with all the romance you can imagine.
Don't you agree?

What is in my Beauty Case

It is the most scorching day and I am stuck at home with the bless called air-conditioner. No going out until 7p.m.! Don't ask how I am learning to drive a car in this hot weather and crazy roads around here. This is the general situation around me.

Now about another situation - the one in my beauty case. The whole thing starts with S. who is crazy about the "what's in my bag" posts and videos and everything. I don't know where this obsession with someone else's bag comes from but it's kind of interesting. That's why she's always nagging me about making such post. But since my bag mainly consists of two important things: my purse and my small beauty case, I decided to show you what's in the case.

This is it - the case is from Paperchase and it's big enough to put everything I need in it:

1. Candied Ginger Lip Balm - The Body Shop.
This is essential lip care especially in the winter season. The balm has a subtle gold-ish colour to it so I use it whenever I want to put something shiny on my lips. It smells as great as it name suggests. As you notice, I don't have any other make up products except the two lip balms because I hate doing my make up on the go. If I don't have the time, I just don't put it on. End of story. It's not the end of the world if I go out like this. If the situation is really bad I have the shiny lip balm and my sunglasses.

2. Coconut Hand Cleanse Gel - The Body Shop.
I love these antibacterial gels. They are perfect to freshen up and clean your hands especially when you are about to eat somewhere. Plus, this one smells amazingly! When I use it people always feel the smell and ask about it. It's even better than washing hands.

3. Analgin
Well this is my headache pain relief. I have headache almost every day because I had and actually still have problems with my sinus hence the pain in the head and often eyes. This is pretty vital part of my beauty case. And since we are living in times when we all have some kind of pain, it's a necessity to have relief with you all the time.

4. Mirror
Even though I hate doing my make up out of home I need a mirror of course! We are girls, I don't need to explain why.

5. Pencil Froggy.
Well that's a frog... I don't know. Sentimental stuff, I guess.

6. Headphones and a case for them.
I like listening to music when I am on the bus or when I'm walking. And since I always break my headphones they have to be in the case!

7. Repair Lip Balm - Garnier.
Another lip balm. I use this one mostly when I need protection rather than beautiful, shiny lips.

8. Mini Nail File.
Another lady necessity that I don't need to explain. I love the small size of the nail file. It is really cute and useful.

What do you have in your beauty case?

Weekly Instagarms!

"Beauty has a lot to do with character. "
- Kevyn Aucoin

Not a lot this week but of good quality. The most important thing is the Michael Kors Rose Gold watch, of course! I've longed for one for sooo long and I finally got it - my parents surprised me with it because for my 20th birthday I was in London as you know, and they couldn't get me an official B-day present. To be honest, I cannot think of a better one! Of course, they got a bit of help for choosing it. Prepare to see that watch in every post.

The rest of the Instagrams are an amazing handmade bracelet and it's cute, also handmade box (another late gift for my B-day - notice the infinity sign!), a bit of inspiration from Picasso, art by a friend, my favourite tatty teddy coffee mug and a new statement necklace from Stradivarius.

Thank you fro reading and stay tuned for tomorrow's post !

Feels Like Wearing... Tribal

"I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then."

Feels Like Wearing ... Tribal

It has been way too hot here to do anything! But since I will be starting work and I have to finish up with my driving license I might as well become a bit more oragnised...

Today it definitely feels like wearing tribal! I have always liked that bohemian, laid-back style. I loved this maxi dress as soon as I saw it. It is suitable for the beach or for long evening walks with comfy gladiators and a denim jacket in case it gets chilly. I think tribal is the perfect summer style for girls who are not that preppy but rather careless. The print can be used as a statement - tribal scarf, snood or bag, and it can be combined with earrings with feathers for even more laid-back look. White and tribal are my favourites this summer ! Don't hesitate to get a cute printed top and combine it with a satchel and great accessories.
