Embrace The Basics

"We must never confuse elegance with snobbery"
 - Yves Saint Laurent.

As you may have noticed, I prefer simple and versatile pieces which I can wear in many ways and for different occasions. Everything else in an outfit is in the details for me. Of course, there are quite a few exceptions but they come to prove the rule. That is why when I went through some of the recent outfits shown on the blog, I noticed that I have been wearing this basic strapless top quite often. And I bought it from Primark! You can imagine how inexpensive (trying not to say the c.. word) it was! And it has so many advantages.

I believe that in order to build on own style one has to embrace the basics as the title says. It is great when you've got an idea how to wear all the weird trends out there but sometimes the truth is in the foundation itself. No wonder I've been wearing this top almost all the time. Yes, it is easier, it does not require much thinking, it's not risky, it's basic.. But if we have to be honest, the outfits shown above wouldn't have been what they are if it wasn't for the basic white. They would have looked overdone and probably a bit tacky. Moreover, I like to put my statement in an outfit on one piece which I want to stand out most rather than ruining beautiful clothes due to misjudgement. Basic does not necessarily mean plain.

At the end of the day the most important thing is to feel confident and beautiful in your own skin.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned for a lookbook soon!

10 Great Items for Decoration: Photos

I am very sorry for the lack of outfit posts these days but I have been a bit ill and the weather is not photo friendly as well. Despite that, I cannot stop imagining the things that I want to arrange in my room once I go back to London. It turns out that having a bit of empty space of your own may be a huge source of inspiration. Or least an incentive for finding it.

As you may remember I had a big board full of photos, ribbons and stickers and everything else in my room at the dorms last year. This year I plan to do something similar but probably a bit more organized and mature but who knows... I know that photos are the first thing I want to have in my room for sure. In hard times away from home, they are life savers, trust me. Thinking about moments of genuine happiness and people who love you is priceless. That is why I am sure that no one will deny how precious photographs can be. And why not incorporate some prints from artists you like among your own memorabilia? The only question is how to arrange the photos and here are a few wonderful ideas:

Instagrams

Recently I've been having inspiration to instagram stuff .. pretty much everything. So here are some of the things this week:
~ Last night's evening outfit + red nails, got to instagram it!
~ Cute cats in fornt of a Ray Ban store. They were so snuggly and cute and usually I don't even like cats!
~ DIY bracelets. I fell in love with them and now I literally cannot stop making bracelets. Must have all colours just in case. I'd love to start a bracelet business with those.
~ Coolest, girly car - Peugeot 208. Can I drive it all the time, please ?
~ Photos from a BBQ with friends and a walk at the Railway station, you might have seen the post already.
~ My friend's Fossil watch and the amazing combination with a beautiful bracelet. I couldn't steal them from her but I had to instagram them immediately.
~ Raffaelo... do I have to say more?
~ The DIY from a few posts ago

Organize Your Jewelry

"Anyone can love a rose, but it takes a great deal to love a leaf. It’s ordinary to love the beautiful, but it’s beautiful to love the ordinary."

The other day I started imagining how I would arrange everything in my new room in London. Since I fell in love with a jewelry organizer just before I came back home, this is the first thing that I have ideas about. I just couldn't stop thinking about all the ways I could store my jewelry. The one that I liked was from Claire's but I found some amazing and easy to do DIYs from Pinterest. You only need a pretty frame and a suitable cord or something that jewelry can be hanged on. Just be creative and let your imagination flow when you put the organizer together. I hope the photos help with that part.

And one last beautiful idea for home:

All photos are from Pinterest. You can find their sources here.
Don't you love it? My most favourite is the first photo - it resembles perfectly what I imagine for myself in one month time- simple but definitely makes an impression. And why don't you put your jewelry where you can see it? Never thought about doing it but the idea appeals to me more and more as I browse through the photos.

How do you organize your pretties?
Thank you for reading! Stay tuned.

Wear That Shirt

"Fashion is very important. It is life enhancing and, like everything that gives pleasure, it is worth doing well"
- Vivienne Westwood.

Hello! Today I'd like to show you a guest blog post that I had the pleasure to write for "Всичко за жената". It's a Bulgarian blog and a very popular facebook page. The topic is shirts in summer and how to wear them. It's in Bulgarian but I believe the photo says much about itself.

Check out the post in their awesome blog and my post here .

Here's a photo with my beloved from that day.

Shirt - Stradivarius | Denim Shorts - Old/Unknown | Top - Primark | Necklace - Dorothy Perkins | Sandals - Unknown | Watch - Michael Kors

Feels Like Wearing ... Crop Top & Studded Shorts

"People should fall in love with their eyes closed"
- Andy Warhol

Feels Like Wearing... Crop Top

It feels like hot summer today and what is better on such occasion than cropped top worn with denim shorts? It is a laid back, casual combination for brave, edgy, modern look. I imagine myself putting on those studded shorts and taking the town by storm with my girlfriends.

Remember the post about Bare Midriffs? Yes, all written in there still applies - it is very 90's and even more tricky to combine. That is why in this outfit I chose to be on the safe side and I added the basic white top underneath. That way you simply don't risk looking tacky because of it. The crop top is still cropped but you don't have to care how it looks because you're wearing the fitted top which covers any overexposed areas. Be careful though, you have this option only with loose crops but not with the tight ones. You have to be extra careful with them. My advice is to always combine tight cropped tops with high waist shorts or skirts - in that way you'll be trendy and there is little chance to get the outfit wrong with this particular piece.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned, more is coming!

Liebster Award

Hello! Yesterday I got the Liebster Award from Sara Says. I had heard about it before and read a few posts regarding the award but I never really paid attention. I want to say "thank you" to this beautiful lady for nominating me and of course now I'm obliged to pass on the blogger love. Liebster Award is a way to help each other and popularize worthy blogs with less than 200 followers. The whole thing sounds like a fun way to tell people things they don't now about you and get involved in the blogging community. It reminds me a lot about notebooks which we had in third or fourth grade with questions which all of your friends had to answer in the notebook and personalize their pages with drawings, stickers, colourful pens etc. I still keep mine and I often open it up for the childhood memories.
So let's get down to business:

The Rules
1. Each person tagged must write 11 things about themselves.

2. Answer all 11 questions that the blogger that has nominated you has set before
creating 11 more questions for the people that you intend to tag for this award.

3. Choose 11 people to tag and name them on a post about the Liebster award.

4. Go to their pages and tell the bloggers you have tagged that you have tagged them.

 5. No tags back allowed.

11 sounds like a lot but I'll try to follow them but I have to warn you that there might be some deviations from the rules.
Here are the things that you may or may not know about me:

  1.  I don't want to get too personal in this blog so now I'm struggling with deciding what I can and cannot say here.
  2. As you know I am a student in London but I am Bulgarian. What you don't know is that I am Taurus and I HATE change. That is why I hate the transition home-London and London-home!
  3. I used to get obsessed with colours, especially red. There was a time when all my clothes were red.
  4. I am torn between deciding whether I should stay in England or come back home for good.
  5. I love animals, I think they're better than people. And the more I get to know people the more I prefer animals.
  6. When I love someone I give them all and I expect the same in return. That is why I often get disappointed with people when I expect everything and get a bit less. I guess that has something to do with my sign as well.
  7. I love penguins!!! They are crazy cute.. and meerkats too, but mostly penguins.
  8. I love reading but I barely get the time to read.
  9. I haven't watched one good movie in ages... please, help!
  10. Stubborn, opinionated, self-righteous.
  11. Punctual, trust-worthy, organized (almost always).
Here are Sara's questions:

Where would you like to live if you could choose anywhere?
That's a tough one... see number 4 and you'll know. I don't dream of exotic places. I want to visit them but not live there.

 What's your favourite food?
I love Bulgarian Cuisine! For me it's tradition so it's my favourite.

What's your favourite fashion magazine?
Vogue and Elle, I guess. They seem classier than many others I've read.

Why did you start blogging?
Because I needed to do something that I love that would be my new hobby. I had no idea what I was doing, to be honest, it just sounded like something that suits me well.
What cameras do you use for your blog?
Hm, well that's my pain. I bought a simple Canon IXUS when I left for London and I didn't think about a camera. Soon after that I started the blog but it was too late to buy a new one. Now I don't have the fancy camera but I'm happy with mine for now.

iPhone or Blackberry?
Neither one. HTC :]

Do you like heelless heels? And why?
Never thought about that. I wouldn't wear them but I might like them in a nice outfit.

What would your ideal date be?
It depends on the person - if I really like the guy everything's going to be perfect.

What's your favourite book?
Check out this post.

What's your favourite season and why?
Spring. Not too hot, not too cold. Plus, I was born in May so it's my season.

If you could be any animal, what would you be, and why?
I'd love to be a wild bird.

Regarding my 11 questions for you - just write whatever you want to say about yourself.
Here are the blogs I nominate ( I want to nominate a few more like Diary of A Modern Day Lady and Melissa's Sweet Style but they're already above 200 followers):

Future Refllections
Love Cloth
Lucky To Find Love
Simply Lacey
Sweet Paprika

Thanks for reading I hope it was interesting for you just like it was fun for me to do.

The Lookbook - Floral Skirt

"It’s beautiful when you find someone that is in love with your mind. Someone that wants to undress your conscience and make love to your thoughts. Someone that wants to watch you slowly take down all the walls you’ve built up around your mind and let them inside."

Today I decided to show you a combination of the last outfit and the very first outfit that I posted on the blog, plus new shoes. I've been thinking about that combination for awhile now and it looked even better every time I thought about it. The high waist of the floral skirt and the wedges create the illusion of longer legs so it's a great combination no matter what body shape you've got. This particular outfit would look great with a denim jacket but since my wardrobe cannot have everything I paired it with the cardigan from the other day. It has become quite chilly in Bulgaria so it's not unusual to wear a jacket. Even when you go out on a typical summer night, especially near the sea, a cardigan can save your life when the wind is not so warm.

The Casual Look

"A woman is never sexier than when she is comfortable in her clothes"
 - Vera Wang.

I completely agree with Vera Wang's opinion and that is why I decided to take a few spontaneous photos from a casual going out without any particular purpose. To be honest, when I decide to shoot photos for the blog I know in advance and try to think of a nice place, pretty clothes that I haven't shown before etc... but the other day I just went out and said to myself "get that camera, you don't know what might happen, where you might go". At the beginning I didn't want to be photographed because I had no make up to start with, my hair was awful and my clothes were pretty simple and nothing special. At the end I decided that this doesn't matter and I should make a few pictures and I ended up taking photos all the time.  After all I felt good  about myself so why not show off.

I know that the Railway Station is not the usual place for hanging out but it has it beauty which you can notice. We went there without a purpose as I mentioned. You've seen me here before in another lookbook, I hope you like this one as well.

Comfy at home - Oysho

A toast to carpe diem, to peeling oranges with sticky fingers, to a hum in your head that sings a song, to walking barefoot in the january sun. An effort put forth in life so our graves are not bare like the trees of winter. We are without doubt blooming in spring...

Don't you sometimes feel like staying at home all day? I always get that feeling when I enter one of Oysho's shops. Their collections represent the perfect home wear - comfy, girly, loose and baggy but somehow sexy. That's how I perceive it. You've seen one of my winter PJ's with the dwarfs from Snow White and my slippers here . Now I fell in love with their new collection - I bought sandals and a cute baggy Minnie Mouse top. I want to have all their lingerie and comfy clothes to wear at home. Visit their website and check out the whole collection. Here I'll show you only one option with the top that I got today.Don't you imagine yourself wearing those cite pieces, drinking hot tea and reading a good book or just cuddling with the beloved.

All photos are taken from here.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned!

DIY Cards Ideas

“I was never one to patiently pick up broken fragments and glue them together again and tell myself that the mended whole was as good as new. What is broken is broken - and I'd rather remember it as it was at its best than mend it and see the broken places as long as I lived.”
- Margaret Mitchell

It is crazy hot and crazy stressed around me but not for long. Soon I will be free as a bird for the next month at least. I plan this to be a happy time, not nervous. After all we all need vacation and some time to be away from the everyday bull. What I found out recently is that getting your driving license is freakin' expensive and it takes a lot of time and that's a problem because I cannot stop dreaming of a small getaway with my car ... That's the sum up of my personal disasters and the stupid reason why I haven't been around for 5 days... such a shame.

Today I saw these amazing cards published in Slanchogled's Facebook Page. Translated Slachogled means Sunflower and this is the shop where I get all my supplies when it comes to being creative. I know it's not the cheapest place mainly because it's the only one/or the most popular one/ around here, but I love it! I love the ideas you can get and the atmosphere when you walk in. I'd love to work in such pleasant environment and be able to create and use my imagination all the time. Unfortunately, I don't feel gifted enough for that. I suggest you check out their page and their albums and you can find a lot more things worth seeing. The best part is they have a shop in London and I plan to visit it often once I go back there.

So here are a few easy and quick ideas for self-made cards for different occasions. Don't hesitate to try them out and visit Sunflower's page for more inspiration. Once you see them you'll know they;re really easy to make but very pretty.

DIY Decoupage Frame

Here is something I wanted to do for a long time. I bought all the materials probably a month ago. Today I could not sleep well after a night shift and I finished this small project so very tired so please ignore the small imperfections on the frame.

 Materials needed:
  1. Cutout shape with measures of your choice either bought from crafts shop or cut out by you out of cardboard. I bought mine because it has a very beautiful shape and it was very cheap - less than £1.
  2. Decoupage paper from crafts shop - price is about 40p per sheet. Choose whichever pattern you like and can decorate accordingly.
  3. Decoupage glue - from crafts shop - approx. £2.50
  4. Scissors
  5. Plain Glue
  6. Small things that you want to use as additional decoration e.g buttons, small ribbons, paper flowers etc.You can choose a theme for the frame e.g sea frame, butterfly frame, retro rustic frame using glue that makes cracks in the texture you've chosen (I hope you understood what I mean because I really cannot explain it properly in English!)
All of my items I got from crafts shop in Varna.

How to:

It is a simple method that you probably already know from my previous posts about the decoupage technique. Fristly, if you want the frame to have a certain colour (I recommend white) paint it with acrylic paint. In that way the paper will stand out more. I do not have appropriate paint so I just left mine the way I bought it and it turned out very well because I did not use napkin for the decoupage but the special paper which does not need foundation colour. If you choose napkin you have to paint the object you're decoupaging, by all means.
Then you cut out the paper and start applying the decoupage glue first on the frame and then on the top of the paper from the inside towards the edges of the frame. Let it dry well. My frame got a bit uneven in places but that is the thing that I still cannot master when it comes to decoupage. It happens because there is still air underneath the paper or it was uneven. When you're over choose a few pretty things and decorate it to make it personal. Glue them either with the plain glue or use the decoupage glue. For the cord and the ribbon I've used the fancy glue.

When you're over put a photo or something inspirational to you and the frame will remind you of it every day. The whole project is very simple and not time consuming at all. I did it for two hours or so. If you have a design in mind go on and use different techniques if you like. No matter how your frame turns out it will always be precious because it will contain your creativity as well.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned!

"When you’re happy, you enjoy the music. But, when you’re sad, you understand the lyrics."

A few instagrams from the last days. I've been working and under a bit of stress to be honest but now I realize that life's too short to be worried about the daily troubles. I really want to keep doing what I like to do and what makes me happy. This blog does make me happy and is an incentive to go on and dream about many, many things. I don't want to be too philosophical about it but it is true. I'll take long walks, love my dog, sleep good, read books, dream more, drink coffee, spend time with friends and family... and hopefully stress and everyday bull won't get me that easy. Life's too short to listen to those who do not wish you well.

Thak you for reading and be positive about life.
